Meet Suki

Seven-time Emmy Award winner Sukanya Krishnan (aka “Suki”) is no stranger to live broadcast content, having served as anchor, journalist for a myriad of local and national networks such as PIX 11, FOX5NY, & TLC.

Krishnan has chronicled some of the biggest national & local stories over the last two decades. Krishnan was also a trail blazer becoming  the first South Asian to anchor news in the No. 1 market

Krishnan has won numerous awards, including honors from the NYPD and the NJ State and Local Police Departments, as well as many others from Indian American organizations for representing South Asians in the media. She has been honored by multiple local organizations, including the NYC Comptroller’s Office, for distinguished Broadcasting and the Friars Club for journalistic achievement.

In 2016, she received a Certificate of Merit for her service in literacy by the Mayors office.

In 2015, she was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the NY State Assembly for her 20 years of public service to the community in New York State and also awarded the Shirley Chisholm Women of Distinction Award at a ceremony conducted by the NY City Council. She has also been honored by several media outlets: “City & State Magazine” named her a Woman of Distinction and “Moves Magazine” has deemed Krishnan a Power Woman.

Krishnan is a tireless advocate lending  her voice to the NY Police and Fire Widows and Children’s Benefit Fund and several 9/11 charitable organizations. The broadcast on  9/11, which Krishnan was anchoring, is featured in the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.  In 2002, she was awarded her first Emmy Award for this live coverage.

Krishnan also received back-to-back Emmys in 2005 and 2006 for On-Camera Achievement (NEWS) Anchor/Host, and two Emmy Awards in 2014 for news coverage of Superstorm Sandy.
